 The PMI South Al
 abama Chapter will hold their 2018 Professional Development Seminar on Oct
 ober 18th. Our speakers this year will be discussing many aspects of proje
 ct management. Whether you are a seasoned veteran or just starting in your
  project management career\, you will learn a great deal from these great 
 speakers.

 Mr. Latham
 ’s Presentation Title:
 Tool Time: How to Stand Out From Other PMs Thro
 ugh the Effective Use of PM Tools. This presentation will focus on effecti
 vely using key PM tools and templates and how to tailor them to meet both 
 project and organizational challenges. The session will demonstrate differ
 ent approaches for “right sizing” tools and leveraging these skills in
 to mapping a path to organizational success beyond simple project manageme
 nt. Included will be some neat tricks and tips in MS Project and other app
 lications which will help any PM stand out above their peers. The presenta
 tion will help any PM practitioner move beyond project management to lever
 aging PM tools into organizational and business problem solving. The prese
 ntation will offer a time for sharing ideas and successful experiences and
  problem solving ideas from participants.
 
 Charles “Chuck” Latham 
 is currently a Project/Program Management Consultant with expertise in dev
 eloping and maturing Project Management Office (PMO) operations from the g
 round up. He has developed PM methodologies\, governance processes and bes
 t practices for myriad organizations. His outstanding success has benefitt
 ed such clients and organizations as Alfa Insurance\, HP\, IBM\, Pricewate
 rhouseCoopers\, large conversion projects with Wells Fargo\, Massachusetts
  and Alabama State Medicaid\, US Department of Education\, US Army\, Texas
  and Alabama State DMVs\, New Mexico State University\, US Department of V
 eteran Affairs\, etc. He is skilled in metric development and strategic de
 sign helping organizations rebuild culture\, boost quality\, and deliverin
 g programs and templates with durable and scalable value. He has held role
 s from Director of PMO and IT\, to VP and University Academic Dean. Chuck 
 is a retired Air Force Officer\, published author\, and volunteers his tim
 e each week in prison ministries. Chuck has been a PMP for almost two deca
 des and is a Certified Scrum Master\, certified Process Consultant through
  IBM and holds a BS in Business Management from St. John Fisher College\, 
 MBA from Chapman University\, and Master’s Certificate from the George W
 ashington University.

 The introduction\, evolution\, and execution of Kanban practices
  for managing workflow\, throughput\, and resource planning in a technolog
 y environment
 
 Randy Johns\, PMP has worked in technology and operatio
 ns for 20 years. He has merged his passion for the mining and building mat
 erials industry with his passion for technology. This merger has led him d
 own a path of front-line operational support\, technical support\, project
  management\, and applications management. Randy’s presentation will des
 cribe the use of the Kanban methodology. Kanban is a simple and visual way
  to manage projects to workflow. Randy will demonstrate how Kanban came in
 to effect in Drummond MIS and how it has been used to better manage throug
 hput as well as resource planning.
 
 Mr. Smith’s Presentation Title:
 
 An Agile Overview for People Who Don't Really Like Agile
 The Agile met
 hodology has taken some industries\, especially software development\, by 
 storm. It inspires fierce loyalty from some - and equally fierce dislike f
 rom others. Gary Smith will help you take a look at Agile as a tailoring d
 ecision\, not a litmus test or life philosophy\, and will discuss situatio
 ns that it's right for\, and some where it isn't.

 s the Chief Operating Officer for Jamersan\, an Opelika web development co
 mpany that is agile\, or at least agile-ish\, and President of Nectar Brid
 ge\, a consulting firm which helps business owners make plans and set prio
 rities around sales\, marketing\, and operations. He's been the webmaster 
 for PMI South Alabama and spoken at PMI's national conference. He lives in
  Prattville with his wife Diane and has sons attending Troy University and
  the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

 Dr. Jane Goodson\, 
 Professional Development Trainer and Consultant\, has over 30 years of con
 sulting and training experience in both public and private sector organiza
 tions. Among other degrees\, she holds a PhD in Human Resource Management 
 and Organizational Behavior from the College of Business at the University
  of Alabama. During her career at Auburn University at Montgomery\, she wa
 s Director of the MBA program\, head of the Department of Management\, and
  dead of the College of Business\, serving 12 years in that role before re
 turning to the classroom and retiring as Professor Emeritus in 2014. Dr. G
 oodson specializes in the area of management consulting and has extensive 
 experience in organizational change efforts.

 Ashley Jernigan&nbsp\;attended Alabama State University and gradu
 ated with a degree in Communications with a concentration in Public Relati
 ons. She was fortunate to start her career before graduating as the Assist
 ant Private Events Director at a national private club corporation and hel
 d multiple positions before becoming one of the youngest Private Events Di
 rector in the company. While working full time\, Ashley attended Georgia S
 tate University and received an MBA then moved on to direct all the market
 ing efforts for one of the largest restaurants and property management com
 panies in the River Region.
 Ashley has a passion for helping young profe
 ssionals advance in their career because her own professional journey was 
 not easy. She explains that journey and gives tips\, tricks and tools to n
