May Workshop Host: Brandon Carpenter, PMP, PMI-ACP, LSSGB

Session Title:
Smarter Projects, Not Just Faster: Using AI Without Losing Control

Session Overview

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly becoming part of everyday project work—from building schedules to drafting communications and identifying risks. While AI can increase efficiency, it also introduces new challenges when used without proper oversight.

In this practical and engaging session, Brandon Carpenter explores how project managers can effectively leverage AI while maintaining control and accountability. Drawing from real-world experience across industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, aerospace, and construction, this session focuses on what works in practice—not just theory.

Participants will gain actionable insights into how to use AI as a tool to support better decision-making, while avoiding common pitfalls such as overreliance, lack of context, and inaccurate outputs.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

Recognize where AI can support day-to-day project work
Identify risks and limitations in AI-generated outputs
Apply practical strategies to use AI responsibly and effectively
