About Us

PMI South Alabama is an organization dedicated to improving and advancing project management in the river region and wiregrass areas of south Alabama. By becoming a member of our Chapter, and attending our regular programs and training, you will be offered many opportunities to grow and learn from recognized subject matter experts experienced across a wide variety of industries.

The South Alabama Chapter of the Project Management Institute offers great opportunities to meet other project managers and to learn about project management. Chapter activities include dinner meetings, speakers, seminars and project management courses in cooperation with Troy University at Montgomery. Our chapter includes members from local banks, insurance companies, government contractors, manufacturers, state government, and others.

The Project Management Institute (PMI) encourages member chapters (component organizations) to develop strategic plans/objectives to support PMI’s national goals and the long term growth/development of those chapters. A strategic plan is the natural progression of the chapter along the component maturity model. Since inception, as the Montgomery chapter, PMI South Alabama has focused on organizational and operational issues/activities. To continue our growth and development, the Board of Directors is focused on strategic goals and objectives. The first step is to develop a 3-5 year strategic plan. The chapter accomplishes this by conducting offsite sessions with the “Presidents” (current, future, & past), to assist in keepin this plan updated and relevent. The plan is maintained in the following order:  SWOT analysis, mission statement, vision, and strategic goals/objectives. This plan was approved initially by the Board in July 2006 and will be updated annually by the Board.
