Speaker: Ryan Allen, Chief Information Security Officer for the Office of Information Technology, State of Alabama
Topic: Cybersecurity
Bio: Mr. Ryan Allen is the appointed Chief Information Security Officer for the Office of Information Technology, where he leads the State of Alabama’s Cyber Security initiatives.
Mr. Allen brings a wealth of experience to the State’s IT leadership team. Prior to this appointment, he served as Division Director of Infrastructure and Cyber Security for Children’s Hospital of Alabama, where he led IT operations functions for the third-largest pediatric hospital in the U.S. Ryan held a concurrent role with the UAB Department of Pediatrics as the Director of Operations, overseeing the Department’s IT and facilities efforts.
Ryan has a Master’s of Science in Health Administration and a BA in Technical Writing from the University of Alabama, Birmingham, and also holds a CISSP, CPHIMS, and CHPS certification. He earned a Presidential Service Award for his time spent volunteering as a POST certified police officer and continues to work with local law enforcement on cyber-crime initiatives.
Ryan is affiliated with numerous community organizations, including: Mentoring for the Holy Family Cristo Rey High School Corporate Work Study Program, serving as a Board Member of Lord Wedgwood Charity, and a participating member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and Health Information and Management System Society.

Come join us for our annual Christmas gathering in Montgomery, Alabama.
On December 12, 2019, PMI South Alabama will host an informal social at the Irish Pub on Dexter Ave. in Montgomery (upstairs). There will be appetizers. Drinks are available for purchase. Anyone interested in project management is encouraged to come by.
This event is a chance for chapter members and others who are interested in networking to find out more about PMI, the PMP credential in general, and opportunities in the local area. There is no admission fee - buy yourself a drink and come meet PMI South Alabama!

Dinner Meeting Speaker for January 9, 2020 is Ms. Ellen Hill, B.S., M.S, PMP.
Ms. Hill is Managing Partner of E&J Consultants, LLC. She provides consulting services for large Department of Defense (DoD) Information Technology (IT) businesses like SAIC, as well as small businesses already in, or wishing to enter, the DoD IT space.
Ms. Hill has an Associate Degree in Computer Science, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, and a Master of Science Degree in Counseling and Human Development from Troy University Montgomery. Her credentials include Project Management Professional (PMP) certification acquired in April 2007.
Prior to owning her own business, Ms. Hill was Vice President at THE CENTECH GROUP, Inc. (CENTECH) where she was responsible for over 1,200 task orders awarded on the NETCENTS and NETCENTS 2 Air Force contract vehicles. These contracts were worldwide (including war zones), and her portfolio exceeded $1B. She completed 30 years of civil service within the DoD; 15 of those years were in the IT field at Maxwell AFB-Gunter Annex AL. Her last assignment at Gunter was Director of Quality Management where she was instrumental in leading the Headquarters Standard Systems Group (HQ SSG) to Capability Maturity Model Level 3. This led to her receiving the “HQ SSG Hall of Fame Award” granted to one retiree per year.
Ms. Hill is currently enjoying her “mostly retired” status while traveling worldwide with her husband Jim Tindell, co-founder of E&J Consultants, former President of CENTECH, and retired Air Force Officer. They also spend time visiting their four children and 12 grandchildren, since none live in Alabama.

Topic: Introduction Presentation on Disciplined Agile (DA)

Key principles of DA include customer centricity, being pragmatic rather than purist, providing a range of agile and lean options, applying context-based practices, and optimizing flow across the entire enterprise.
PMI South Alabama Chapter President, John Dennett, is a former Senior Naval Officer. He is a senior Program Manager and Logistics Engineer with over 30 years of progressive responsibility and experience in the commercial and government sectors. He manages systems engineering and life-cycle support efforts that include contract administration and business development tasks. In addition, he is the Director of SJ Technologies' Montgomery Office and he is an Adjunct Faculty member with the Troy University, instructing the PMP Certification Course.
