Abstract: Please join us for our April 2024 members meeting! Our guest speaker will be David Barrett of ProjectBites. In this event, David will speak about navigating your career in Project Management.

Bio: David Barrett has enjoyed a 30-year career in the project management business that has led him to create this education portal.

Most recently he has been a professional speaker specializing in project leadership and strategy execution. He is also a regular blogger, podcast host, author, and education advisor with Schulich Executive Education Centre, Schulich School of Business, York University and the founder of the Masters Certificate in Project Management at Schulich. David’s career includes the creation and directing of a project management conference business: ProjectWorld and Project Summit, a training company, a software development firm, a speaker bureau and a project management portal called ProjectTimes.com.

 

He is the author, co-author or ‘compiler’ of 7 books including: ‘The Power of The Plan’, two versions of ‘The Keys to Our Success’, ‘Leadership Perspectives’ and ‘7 Elements of Strategy Execution’..

 

ProjectBites is owned and operated by Solutions Network Ltd. / David Barrett out of Collingwood Ontario, Canada. David’s goal is the educate and inspire project managers to be great at what they do by bringing together professionals from around the world, through this site, to contribute their talents, knowledge and experience to help each other.  Micro Learning for Project Managers at all levels. The idea of this site came from an event David created in 2017 called ProjectTalks. This is a ‘TED-style’ event consisting of 4 speakers at 20 minutes each. After running 30 separate events across 15 different cities, featuring over 90 different speakers, it became a virtual offering in 2021.

 

As these events grew over time, David realized that the recorded version of each of those 20-minute sessions had a unique value to both the consumer and the speaker – and this led to the creation of ProjectBites in the summer of 2020.

Presentation Description:

The project management field out there is pretty crowded out there. Its no longer enough to be just really good at what you do.  You have to be more.  It’s no longer build it on time, on scope and budget.   You have to add value over and above the normal requirements of project managers.

So how do we add value?  How do we stand out in the crowd?  How do we get recognized in this very crowded field?

Our speaker will get us thinking about what we can do to innovate our careers and get to the next level.
